You finally have your blog up and running, but now you have a problem, you’re not getting any visitors. I am going to share a few tips on how you can increase the amount of visitors to your blog and how to keep them coming back. Follow the simple tips below and watch your traffic start climbing.
You probably heard the phrase a million times before “Content is King”. Content is now more important than ever. We live in the Digital Age where information is so easily accessible via technology, people use search engines like Google, Yahoo, and Bing to find information on new products, services and even answers to their problems. In order for your site to be found by a potential visitor on one of these search engine you must have good content and a lot of it.
Let me give you a example. People typically come to Google looking for information or a solution to a problem. Google’s goal is to provide relevant and recent information for that particular search. If your blog can provide relevant information on what the end user was searching for then Google will send them to your site.
If used correctly Social media can be a huge source of traffic. Here are a few simple steps you can use to help increase traffic to your site and gain more followers on you social media site of choice.
- Make your content easy to share – give your readers a simple means of sharing your content within their own social networks. If you use WordPress there are many plugin options you can use. On this website we use Shareaholic.
- Ask Visitors to Follow You – “If you don’t ask, you won’t get”. After every post you should have a call to action “If you enjoyed this post, please follow us on Twitter or become a fan on Facebook.” This will not only increase your social following but also let their friends know that they find your content interesting. Hopefully this will lead to more followers and traffic to your site.
- Post Links to your Blog post – The truth is no one will know you made a new blog post on your site unless you tell them. Social Media sites are a excellent platform for this, but don’t just post your link, write a “teaser” such as a question or headline that entices people to read more and click on your link.
Start Collecting Emails (Newsletter Subscriptions)
This is one of the most important steps in increasing and keeping visitors coming back. You should start collecting emails from day one. A good way to get your visitors to subscribe to your newsletter is by offering a free eBook, report or premium content that readers can only get by entering their name and email.
Having a newsletter will allow you to have increased interaction with readers and also make it easier for them to keep track of what is happening on your blog or website. If you do not have a newsletter many readers will never come back to your site or simply forget your site existed.
If readers are willing to join your newsletter, they will probably be the type of people who will be willing to promote your content. A list of people like this is always going to be worth having access to.
Post on Forums and Blogs in your Niche
One of the easiest ways to drive traffic to your site is by participating in forums and blogs in your niche. I’m not talking about spamming forums with your links, I’m talking about answering questions and participating on topics in your niche. Doing this will help you build trust with your potential audience and will also give you good writing material. Once you build that trust you can write posts on your blog to answer some of the problems or questions they have, and then you can point them to you site for the answers.
